We have great news! AB 882 (was LRB 3285), Representative Subeck’s breastfeeding bill - "Healthy Babies, Working Mothers", was just scheduled for a hearing tomorrow/Wednesday at 5pm.  This is a wonderful, unexpected turn of events!

Here are the details:

Wednesday, February 10, 2016

5:00 PM

400 Northeast State Capitol Building

Please pass this information on. I know it is short notice, but we would like to have a good showing at the public hearing.  This is VERY important!

Post below if you have any questions.  Please share widely!  This is a very necessary step and we truly need a good turnout.

Hearing room is on the 4th floor.  You can register in support of the bill (then leave if you cannot stay) and also, if you wish, register to testify as well.

For those willing to give testimony, personal stories are very important.  If you've been denied space other than a bathroom, benefits taken away, not given regular breaks to pump...it's very important for these legislators in this committee to hear your stories!

If you are a breastfeeding advocate/helper/support person, your testimony is important as well - especially for those who have personally seen the consequences when a mother is not given time/space to pump; ex. mother gets ill/mastitis, breastfeeding goals are not met due to inability to maintain supply.  Public health persons who can testify about the long term consequences of not breastfeeding.  All of this is education that our legislators need to hear.

Share widely with your email/friends/networks.  Crossing fingers for a packed public hearing.
