    Featuring Laura Hernandez, MS, PhD.

    Laura Hernandez, MS, PhD is an Associate Professor of Lactation Physiology in the Dairy Science department with an affiliate appointment in ObGyn at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  She is interested in the effects of SSRI usage during pregnancy and lactation on maternal and fetal bone health.

    Symposium objectives include:

    (1) Understand how the mammary gland regulates lactation persistency in terms of feedback inhibition of lactation

    (2) Demonstrate how adipose tissue can influence development of the mammary gland and potentially reduce the amount of milk produced or the decrease the intent to breast-feed if there is a delay in the onset of lactogenesis.
